Benefit Boutique + Stuff She Likes = Super night of girly fun..

The Benefit Boutique + Stuff She Likes Happy Hour Jan 27, 2011

I thought I would post some photos from the Benefit + Stuff She Likes Happy Hour last week.. It was a fun filled two hours of pure make-up lessons...brow waxing... brow tinting...yummy gluten free pizza...brownies... wine and good old fashion girl talk!

Thank you to all the beautiful ladies and some gents who came out.  It was our first event.. designed for ladies to take a couple hours out for themselves.

It was such a treat to hang with some of my readers...

..and my mom and 87 year old grandma came...nothing like three generations!!

Oh and in case you are wondering why the hec I have that ghetto silver clip in my hair..that's what they do when they tint your eyebrows so the die does not get in your hair. However being the slightly forgetful sometimes goofy girl that I am, I forgot the die was on my brows, proceed to take ton's of photos and smeared it all over my camera :)  Welcome to my world!

It was such a great night that Benefit has asked me to host this night once a month..Yay!!!

I can't wait until the next one...

and guys..if you do get your brows waxed feel free to join us on the next one.

Here's to taking a couple hours out... I "Like"

This week has been filled with a lot of excitement.. I hosted a sublime little event with Benefit make-up at the Benefit Boutique on 3rd street last night. Which was awesome BTW.  Photos soon to come.  The preview of the February issue of Liberating Style magazine with yours truly on the cover came out.  I am so floored that they found me worthy of a cover.  I found out my Bestie Courtney K. is moving to New York.  I am so happy for him and so sad at the same time, so I simultaneously booked my ticket to go hang with him. Yup ..I would say the week was pretty fantastic!!

...And now FASHION FRIDAY..  Yay!!

BTW this is starting to become my favorite day of the week..

I was not lying when I said that Backstage is quickly becoming one of my favorite lines.. I fell in love with this dress the minute I saw it!!  Let me will tell you why...  It's not only beautiful..super feminine.. and comes in delicious buttery colors (my other favorite is the peach), but you can eat in it.  I mean really eat in it!!!   Meaning there is an entire layer of fabric that hides the fact that you may or may not have had the entire box of cookies with lunch and then later ended dinner with pie and ice cream.

....And I am not saying that is or isn't what I may have or may not have actually done..okay did you get that because I think I just confused myself...

Moving on....

I wanted to keep this outfit super simple.  The dress is so perfect by itself.   Thus.....Report Signature platform slingbacks that actually fit my feet (I have really narrow feet so slingbacks don't work for me)  topped off with a mix of high and low costume jewelry.

This Forever 21 necklace is beautiful and was about $10 bucks and this bracelet that I snagged from Kiz Boutique in Chicago is getting so much wear.  Worth every penny!  It's dresses up an outfit perfectly.  Vintage Chanel earrings, although I will be the first to admit that these are clip-ons and after about two hours my earlobes get numb..Ahhh the sacrifices we make in the name of fashion.

Alright lets talk a little House of Harlow.  This ring is one of my favorites.  I actually love, love, love it. As in want to consume it.  I actually want to consume the entire collection of Nicole Richie's House of Harlow line.  It's all super wearable with the perfect combo of edge and class. Pretty much just like her!  ..And yes I think she is a class act!  Met her once at my favorite smoothie bar..and both her and her baby girl were super nice and had bright beautiful smiles their faces.

The nails..Hmmm.  I was in a tame nail mood this day...don't ask...

BTW..I have completed the chalk board wall.. The painters tape has come off as you can see and I will be writing on it as soon as I actually remember to buy chalk..

Alrighty all.  Have a fabulous weekend where ever you are!!!!!

Shampoo is a Dirty Word

A continuation of the Places and Products I love that enable me to walk out the door everyday and not scare people.....

....But Before I start the absolute praise that will be this blog post I have to give it a little back story.

Conversation Flashback:
Before moving to Vegas to run the new Stella MaCartney store my dear friend Lauren had just had two adorable little twins, got back into amazing shape, and completely changed the condition of her hair.

and she replied  'WEN!" WEN! WEN!

After months of lallygagging (really was not sure how to spell that) ..I decided to go see what all the fuss was about..

All I knew was that there was no shampoo involved and that her hair looked amazing!

And of course my first question was "how the hec will my hair get clean without shampoo?"

So off to the Chaz Dean hair salon I went..

I walked into this little oasis to be greeted by the adorable Rhea.  She knows her stuff y'all.  She walked me through all the products in the boutique and showed me everything that would work best for my hair.

Suffice to say, I have now been introduced to what just might be best hair products I have ever used to date.  Literally!

...And being that I am a girl with a superabundant amount of naturally course curly hair I have bought used and wasted money on a WHOLE LOT of products!

Intrigued yet?

Here's the deal..

It's a conditioner that cleans your hair..

Did you get that?

Let me say it again..

It's a conditioner that cleans your hair!

So in a nutshell it eliminates your Shampoo, Conditioner and Leave in..  Kinda like one of those all in one printer, fax, scanners...Okay that was a strange comparison but it was the first one that came to mind..don't judge me :)

...And now for  a little back story on the ups and down's of Taye's hair.  I have never been one to just let my hair be.  I always have to do something damaging.  Flat irons, colors, relaxers, curling irons etc.  So what has happened is over time my curls when from big and healthy to stringy, limp and barely there.  Ewww!

This is where the last month or so of me using the Fig and the Pomegranate Wen cleaning conditioners come in.  After the first use  my curls were like 80% the 3 week..they were back in full force..

and when I straighten it..It's BEAUTIFUL, SHINY and SOFT!!!!!!!

It's called a miracle people!!!

So a couple days after calling the salon and praising them to no end I received a lovely little UPS box of goodies filled with the Fig  Body cleaning cream..Fig body lotion and the Fig body, face and hair Replenishing mist.!!  You know that winter itchy from dry skin..NOPE not with WEN!! Thanks Guys!!!!!

Now the only things left to try are the hair and body oil, the hair mask and the styling creme!!  Whoo hoo I can't wait..Think I'll go get some today!

All and all I have to say Run, don't walk..RUN to the Chaz Dean hair salon and GET THIS PRODUCT!!

It has changed my hair!

First off I know this post is a little late in the day.... LIFE HAPPENS when you are trying to post a FASHION FRIDAY!!

So I had a whole other FASHION FRIDAY post raring to go, but in light of the amazing summer weather we are having here in the City of Angeles I had to post a springy summeryish look.

This was a last minute shoot.  It was pretty out and I love this why not right.

As you have probably noticed from the photo's we had a special  guest for this FASHION FRIDAY shoot.  Just before Jason and I were about to take the first photo, for which we literally had a 20 minute window, my friend Mindy asked if I could baby sit her little pup for a couple hours.. and of course I said YES....not realizing that I would have to hold her the whole time due to the copious amounts of traffic speeding down La Brea Blvd.

The drop went something like this....

Mindy pulls up on the busy boulevard in her super cute convertible Bug...and hands me a pink bag.

The contents of the pink bag were as follows:
One leash, One extremely chewed chew toy, a couple pieces of mini kibble and one little Pomeranian.

Thus we have Mini..a beautiful addition to this weeks FASHION FRIDAY.  Besides being the cutest thing on the planet, she was a real trooper!!  She never complained.  She just marked her territory a few times and posed.

Alright enough of that!

A little about my outfit.  First off I've had these jeans for about three years.  I love a great Bell Bottom.  Snug up top to show off the curves.  I think they are a nice departure for when you don't feel like fighting with the skinnies.

This tee is delicious.  I got it at Kiz in Chicago.  Perfect for your higher waist pants and jeans.  I love the tail in the back.  Tails always seen to slim the body and give the appearance of being taller.

These booties may have been one of my all time best purchases.  $19.95, yes you are reading that right. 19 dollars and 95 cents.  You gotta love Forever 21 for that!!!  Super comfortable and they look expensive. Nothing better than that!

This belt and the chain were more finds from my Grandma's closet...yay!!!

.....and this luscious Nanette Lepore pocket book was a Christmas gift..LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

Okay my nails.. I have been getting asked about my nails a lot lately.  I love to experiment with's the one thing you can go crazy with and if you don't like it..the polish remover is a step away.

Lately its been layers for me..layer of solid nail that's a different color and glitter..lots of glitter.  I have vowed to do my own nails for the next month.   That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Oh BTW this is what my hair looks like when I don't fry it with my flat iron.  Big and curly!!  It will show up in future FASHION FRIDAYS from time to time.  Mostly when I get lazy. :)

SO there you have it!

Have a great weekend everyone!
