Excuse me.. are those your lashes?

So in the past couple of months I find my self answering these questions a lot..

What mascara do you use?..or what are you doing because your lashes look great...

And every time my answer is.. Maybelline..

So here's the deal:

A few months ago I switched from the $29 dollar Lancome mascara that I have been wearing for years 7.99 Maybelline..and whoa.. I have never had more compliments on my lashes.. Who knew..

Thus I thought I would post about it.

On a day to day I switch between the Falsies Volume Express and the Colossal Volume Express.  All depending on my mood..both equally great but both definitely different.

The Colossal lengthens with pretty nice volume.  It spaces your lashes out really nicely.. where as the Falsies make your lashes super thick.. some times I mix the two.

So there you have it..  For 5.99 and 7.99 you really can't beat it!

It's a bit Cheesy...Free Grilled cheese that is..

So usually don't blog about stuff that I have never tried.. hence my blog being named Stuff She Likes...but I heard about a little event that I desperately want to go to..but can't..  So I thought I would just tell all you foodies all about it.

This Friday April 1st in Beverly Hills the Grilled Cheese Truck is teaming up with Tillamook Cheese and giving away free grilled cheese sandwiches from 11a.m. to 12 p.m.

Key word...FREE!

Are you still with me?

Did you know that April is National Cheese month???

You do now!!

Okay here is where I cut and paste exactly what will go down..just so I don't mix up any of the details..

For one hour only – 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. - on Friday, April 1st, 2011, The Grilled Cheese Truck will offer free Tillamook “Loaf Love” grilled cheese melts to kick off April – otherwise known as National Grilled Cheese Month - and celebrate the presence of the Tillamook Cheese Loaf Love Tour in Los Angeles.  The Loaf Love Tour, including the new “Loafster” convertible bus, will be in attendance sampling their award-winning cheeses made in the Pacific Northwest as well as handing out buttons, recipe cards and coupons for Tillamook products.

Being that I won't be able to attend I don't exactly know what to expect..but I can tell you this.. I have been making my Famous (relative word) Mac and Cheese for about..well lets just say a long freakin time. It's my mom's recipe and ask anyone who has tried it..It's damn good..

...And I have always made that relatively famous Mac and Cheese with the Tillamook sharp cheddar, Monterey Jack and Pepper Jack cheese loafs.  So it's pretty safe to say that for the most part I have had the product.

Get it?

So with that in mind.. Go...Eat...and if you want.. please report back :)  I am positive that you won't be sorry.

Fashion Friday.. a throw back black

Today's Look
Shoes: Pierre Hardy
Hoops: House of Petro Zillia
Cocktail Ring: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Nails: OPI, Bring on the Bling

Like last week I dug in the trenches for a previously unreleased FASHION FRIDAY and I found this little gem..

A time when FASHION FRIDAY was still in it's infancy... My Hair was still a dark brown.. and I was wickedly obsessed with the OPI Burlesque collection (I still lust after that polish BTW).

Interesting enough this is one of those dresses that I actually forgot that I had before I dug these pictures up.  Come on you all know that happens to you!  I've been playing on the colorful side of my closet so much that the LBD (that's little black dress) kind of fell off my radar.

I love this dress by Funcktional. For me it's the perfect mixture of sexy, comfy and classy.  An open plunging back always seems to make what could be a ordinary dress super exciting... and the great thing is that unlike our front never have to hold your backside in because you had one too many cupcakes.

In other news..

I am headed to the opening of A Raisin in the Sun at the Ebony Repertory Theater Company tonight.  My first official serious outing since my surgery two weeks ago. I was an avid watcher of the Cosby Show when I was a kid and although I have seen her on the stage (amazing) and met her on more than one occasion (I bow down), I am stupid excited to see this production of my great aunt Lorraine Hansberry's classic play directed by the ever so talented Phylicia Rashad.  A living legend!

The after party is hosted by Venice Magazine.  Hmm what the hec to wear.  Something super crutch friendly.. or not..I am a glutton for punishment..

Sexy. Comfy. Classy......I "Like"

Have a fantastic weekend everyone!!!

Patience...Barneys Warehouse Sale Part 2

Ahh..part two..The actual purchase..You may be asking yourself is this blog worthy?  Well sort of??  I am actually posting these photo's not just to show off my new shoes..but to show off how they came about... not to mention I just love the way the photograph!

Some days I post pics of "stuff I like" because it's "stuff I want"...and I have often talked about having patience when it comes to the more pricey purchases.  My rule is that if you wait a couple months, it will go on sale..and nothing is better than getting something you really want on sale..

I waited.

They landed at the Barney's warehouse sale!

I posted this on the Stuff She Likes facebook which I get a F grade for up keep.. Opps! Between twitter and this blog and my own facebook page and life I simply forget.  Anyhow..Way back in January I was lusting after these Loffler Randall lace ups..and come March.. I had them in my little hands..  Patience..It definitely pays off in the form of 60% off..yay!!

On to Recovery news..My hip is doing really well.. and I am actually so astonished by the amount of love and help I have received from my friends and family.  So many have brought me food, snacks and just sat with me for a few hours.  It's really nice to know that I have touched peoples lives enough that they would all be here for me when I need them.  So I thank my friends and family for that.  I am up on crutches..although not for long at at time.. and soon I will be back in my heels....

I can't wait..because I have not worn my new shoes...

60% off and great friends...I "Like"

Cat On A Hot Tin Roof....

 The Beautiful Elizabeth Taylor....

Elizabeth Taylor passed away today.. I really admired her as an actress and activist.  I remember her White Diamonds perfume commercials when I was a little girl..and as I grew older and became an actress I admired her work as well as her story.  She had a very HUGE life..lived to the fullest..She never apologized for who she was..and that is a great lesson for all of us...

I will certainly never forget her..

These are some of my favorite images of her through out her life.  I snagged them from various sites on the Internet so I am not able to give credit to the photographers to took them..

Barneys Warehouse Sale.. Part 1

My mission:  Shoes
My destination: Barney's Warehouse Sale.

Okay being that the L.A. Barneys Warehouse sale was over a month ago I do realize that this post may seem a bit late..but never fear there is a point to what will be this two part post.

So a before I had surgery..Courtney K and I decided to go to the Barneys Warehouse sale. Some of you may remember the slightly threatening  totally hysterical text message I received from him the night before.. if you don't.. see it here....

We went... We saw... We conquered...

I love the Warehouse sale.  Before I ever went I was amongst the folks who have heard the stories of crazy ladies fighting over  Givenchy heels and the ever awkward communal dressing room where everyone attempts to try on elaborate outfits without showing off all their girly stuff.  Usually over the clothes they already have on.

Ahhh...It was a fun morning..

We also ran into my buddy Preston Davis..pictured below..

Preston showing of his soon to be purchase

Besides being a working model and actor and having amazing style...he is just an awesome human being.. follow him on twitter here..his tweets will brighten your day.  And I am pretty sure he got those awesome pants.

Then after a rough decision making process an a purchased pair of Loeffler Randall Boots that I have been drooling over for months, and incidentally will be the sole focus of part two of this BWP  (Barneys Warehouse Post),  Cortney and I headed to the Nickel Diner where I proceeded to order a Bacon Covered Glazed Doughnut. Yes I said Bacon Covered Glazed Doughnut.  YUM!

They also have homemade pop tarts..but I succeeded in exhibiting self control and stopped at the doughnut..Phew...I suggest you all take a trip..the food is pretty good too!

Oh and if the pics on this post are a little skimpy it's because I was stopped and warned that photo's were not allowed to be taken at the sale.. uhhh OKAY????

Fashion Friday...Short and to the point..

Today's Look
Skirt: Backstage
Tights: Wolford
Shoes: Vintage YSL
Jewels: b x co.

Ahh it's Fashion Week in LA...and unfortunately I have missed it due to my surgery last week. ..but one great thing about fashion week is that one happens every season in all the major fashion capitals.  So in a couple months I'll be back.  The one show I am sad about missing is the Ghita runway show.  Heard it was amazing!

So despite me being on the hot mess express this last week..FASHION FRIDAY must go on..and this week it will go on with a shoot that was done a little while back.  One night Jason the photog and I were shooting a different FASHION FRIDAY when we decided to play around with one more look.

Lets start with the American Apparel sweater that never see's the closet because it's always on my back. Love this sweater.. other than that fact that it's a little pricey for American Apparel..we all know we love to go in there and spend $40 bucks..I highly recommend you pick one up.  They also have a version that is jersey cotton.. AMAZZZZZE!

The Backstage Duo.
Who can resist a tank bodysuit with feathers!! Super cute.  And the skirt, short and to the point! The cross panels both in the front and back are any girls best friend..they hide what we don't need them to see .. Cellulite alert.. I definitely have it.  Plus both pieces go from winter to spring to summer flawlessly!

The Vintage YSL"s..
There is a really long story behind these that involve me getting stood up for a school dance and my mom wanting me to feel like a princess (a YSL's clad version of one) and a trip to Sak's Fifth Ave.. I will refrain from telling you the year this all went down..just know that the shoes were bought new and at the time cost $250 bucks...and yes I still have the box which might qualify me as a hoarder.

The b x co. Jewels..
b x co. is the baby of my friend Mr. Browne Andrews.  I have loved his collection ever since I first saw it at his launch party at Fred Segal.  Everything he makes is so eclectic and tangible and so many of the pieces are interchangeable.  Necklaces can be worn a million different ways..even as bracelets. When you wear his pieces you feel like you are wearing a piece that you will have for the rest of your life.  The materials that make the collection come from all over the world are all hand selected. If you don't quite see a piece that fits you in the collection he will custom make on for you. Contact him at

Well I hope you all had fun yesterday on Saint Paddy's day..
