Where are you eating dinner .....Osaka

We in L.A. now get to know what Buenos Aires, Santiago, Mexico and Lima have known for a while..... One word...

Osaka..

This post was a year in the making...and totally worth the wait..

I arrived at Osaka..which is nestled smack dab in the middle of Hollywood Blvd, uber excited. I knew it was going to be amazing. I just didn't know that it was going to be amazing X's three.

Just walking into the place transports you to another world..literally making you forget the grit and grime of Hollywood Blvd.  It's absolutely beautiful.. a sort of other world oasis.  The bar greets you..and the huge sushi bar puts you in the mood..

Influenced by both the tastes of Peru and Asia.. the plates at Osaka are a mash up of flavors that I have rarely if ever had before.

Now let me get to the really important stuff.. The eats!

Just so you know..I did a wonderful tasting as a blogger on a Tuesday.. I was back for dinner as a civilian on Saturday..

This restaurant is not messing around!

Okay a rundown of what I had....normally I do not do this but I have decided to use a photo of every dish I ate..because everything I had deserves a bit of the spotlight.

Tiraditos..Spicy  Japanese vinegar Marinated Shiromi aji limo, aji amarillo, togarashi, and tabasco

Tapas..Parmesan Scallops and Evil Scallops

Ceviche Roll,  Quinoa coated shrimp, avocado, sliced tuna tiradito with ceviche sauce, sweet potato threads
Ceveche Sampler.. Ceviche Nikkei, Thai Ceviche & Creamy Wasabi
Nitai, Tuna, creamy coconut milk, togarashi, oyster sauce & scallions
Sakana Ishiyaki.  Seared white fish sahimi, Peruvian pachamanca herbs, served over a hot stone
Miso Truffle American Kobe Skirt.  Miso Puree, Truffle salt, wok seared shiitake mushrooms
Volcan Osaka

..And when I went back I had one of the most amazing drinks ever.. and yes that is a bold statement.

Unfortunately by that time I was knee deep in drinks so I never found out what it was..

Just know that it is made with Horchata, Pisco and some other great stuff..ask for it.. they will know what you are talking about ;)

So if you have not made dinner plans for this weekend head over to Osaka..and if you have made plans, change them and head over to Osaka. I promise you will not be disappointed. You actually might email me a thank you!

Osaka Hollywood..I "Like"

Taye ;)

  1. I have to say, I have never been to Osaka, but you made me want to. When I was in Argentina I used to go to parrillas almost every night. I loved going out to restaurants. The atmosphere of the night in BA is indescribable and you can eat very good food at very low prices. Actually, this is one of the reasons why I rented an apartment in buenos aires in the neighbourhood of Palermo: the eating places. It is full of them and you have all kinds of ethnic and national food. What else could you ask?
