YSL Beauty.. ohh the pretty packaging..

 Quick Beauty post

Trip to Neimans...Lunch....a little shopping (very little)..some NARS (previously seen here)  and a bit of YSL..

Moving into spring my make up colors lighten up and my skin gets darker...Yay!!!  Winter is not the best of times for my ever so mixed heritage...

Thus new foundation and concealer are in order..  This time around I decided to bite the bullet and try out YSL.  Been wanting to try it for a while now but my wallet says hell no every time.. (and my wallet is a YSL!) ...anyhow, being the Gemini/Cancer cusp baby that I am .. I decided to take the plunge..  That plunge was way less painful that previously anticipated.  I bought the Radiant Touch concealer and the Perfect Touch Radiance foundation.  Which BTW are both rather high tech with their built in brushes..super cute.

My verdict?....

Soooooo worth it!!  I actually just ran into a director I worked with last year and he went on and on about how radiant I looked! Hilarious right!!  Get it? ..radiant :)

And with all that said ..Isn't the packaging the freaking prettiest!!  The gold and pale pink are perfection.. Think I may steal that color combo for my next mani/pedi.  On the other hand if you're not so into the YSL foundation after you get it you can always do like my grandma does with all the perfume that she doesn't wear.. put the pretty bottles on display in the guest bathroom.. Oh come on... don't act like there is no one in your family that does that!!

And Yes that's me in the reflection of the foundation bottle! Kind of cool right!

Grilled Cheese for days...

I LOVE FOOD...so being asked to judge the Grilled Cheese invitational with a V.I.P. all access pass was pretty much a no brainer.  If you follow me on twitter, Saturday you got a play by play.

Basically it was me(and some other judges) + bread + butter (lots of it) + copious amounts of cheese + a really warm Saturday afternoon...

...does it get better than that??  Hardly!!!  Below is a little run down of the Stuff She Likes Favorites.
This beautiful creation belongs to Cameron Mcclean who is the soon to be exec chef at Marstons in Valencia.. It's Cheese..beacon, and orange zest butter.. Ah-mazing!!!
Named: Everything But the tomato Soup.  Two sisters from Dallas. Handmade bread, sun dried tomatoes, basil, prosciutto, Munster and Monterey jack cheese.  WOW!!
This simple but delish grilled creation was thought up by Josh Hodas (a lawyer BTW). Walnut Pumpernickel bread and two mild cheeses.. SOOOOOOOO GOOD!!
The Oaks Gourmet: Previously Blogged here.. Named: the Grey Pearl. Sourdough Bread, sage butter & Perlagrigia cheese.  Yummy!
Another simple one..Fresh Mozzarella and Basil!! WOW!!

AND THEN CAME DESSERT

Brace yourself!!  The Folks from the Standard Hotel call it Bleu Luv... You ready?....Nutella and Gorgonzola Cheese.  Seriously sinful!!
I didn't catch her name..but she said.. " I can bake my ass off"  and yes she can..this little pint size creation consists of Candied Sun dried Tomato pound cake, Mascarpone cheesecake and tomato jam.. Whoa!
And last but not least!!... Guillermo (didn't catch his last name) and Luis Delao of the U.S. Forrest Service Fire Dept. Yay for Fire Fighters, created THE KRISPY KREME GRILLED CHEESE... need I say more????

Before embarking on this little adventure  I had a tinsy winsy idea of what I was getting myself into.. So I grabbed my girl Reena, (talent manager extraordinaire!! ), my crutches (ugh), my Nikon, my fierce appetite and headed out the door..

When we arrived it was organized chaos.. Super fun.. Complete with a cheese costume contest won by "Cheesus Christ" .  Yes I just said Cheesus Christ.

Who knew that when founder Tim Walker decided to have have a little grilled cheese off at his downtown loft in 2003..eight years later it would be a festival with thousands of attendees and countless sponsors including my faves Tillamook.  That's some serious inspiration!!!

Check out some more shots of what I witnessed..

I suggest everyone go next year!!!!  I'll be there!

Happy Easter...Make it LOVE ♥ ♥ ♥

 HAPPY EASTER!!!

 ♥LOVE

I was looking back through my catalog of photographs and came across a little project that Mr. Courtney K and I were doing one night a couple years back.  We had a little flash light and a lot of time!!

As I was thinking about today.. Easter.. a day of re-birth.. I was also thinking of my favorite word ♥LOVE♥ .

Easter whether you are a religious person or not is a day of love.  Love is the way to create change, in essence a re-birth in not only the world but ourselves.  For me it is the one feeling that encompasses all emotions.  I both battle and embrace it.. and that's why I welcome LOVE and ALL good and bad that may come with it.

No matter what your plans are today..Go through the day with love...You never know what beautiful change may come.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!

First off I want to acknowledge the obscene about of pictures for today's FASHION FRIDAY.  Sorry sometimes my editing skills land on zero..this was one of those times..  Anyhow.. I am still on crutches for public outings.. but can walk a few steps without them..so I thought I would give you guys a break this week.

It was really hot recently in LA..Perfect time to throw on my go to denim shorts and my favorite tee-shirt!!  This may be TMI.. but I love this tee so much that I am afraid to wash it..  and I haven't..so I won't reveal how long I have had it.  Just know that its very loose so perfume is the most smell it hangs on to..so far..  I will wash it eventually.....eventually!

With that said..

It's from an inspirational Blog called The Daily Love.. I read it every day..and I urge everyone else to.. it's the best start to a day.  Founder Mastin Kipp writes daily delectables that seriously get your brain to function in a better way.. The idea..change the way you feel about yourself and your world will lift up. Simple! Beautiful!

Now you see why it's my Favorite Tee-shirt.. I only wish I had bought all three when he was selling them.

Now on to the clogs.. I bought them last year this time and they are amongst my faves in the wardrobe..  They make you look ten feet tall without committing murder on your feet..  Yay for comfy feet!

Pretty much everything else is self explanatory.. just wanted a simple summery outfit to throw on..and this will be my go to this summer.. (until I change my mind that is).  Super light weight blazer..tee..shorts and mile high clogs.

BTW.. Doesn't the green in the neighborhood look Divine!!  So full of life!!

On another note..

I am super excited for this weekend.. I am going to the Grill Cheese Invitational..To get tickets Click here..  With nothing but grilled cheese you can't go wrong!!

Have a stupendous weekend!

That J-Lo Glow..

NARS Illuminator in Super Orgasm, and Velvet Lip Pencil In Calliope

Ladies...Now that spring is upon us.. it is time to clean out not only our closets but our make up bags too! ...Or in my case trunk and make room for some springy, summery fresh colors.  So that's just what I am doing. In stages of course ;)

My first springy purchase was NARS Illuminator in Super Orgasm and NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Calliope..  They are both super perfect for all the nude and bright palettes of spring..

The Illuminators are Ah-mazing!!

I happen to own pretty much all the Orgasm products from NARS.  It's the only color that I have ever come across that actually looks amazing on EVERYONE.. No matter what color you are.  I have the Orgasm Blush for day, Super Orgasm Blush for night, the Orgasm Multiple for everything and now the Illuminator.

If you are as obsessed with the "J-Lo glow" as I am, the Illuminators will give it to you. I heard through the grapevine that her make-up artist mixes them with her foundation..  and if you've been watching American Idol every week you see that that woman's make up is freaking flawless ALL THE TIME!

So this is what I do..

When I wear foundation I mix..and when I am going "make-up light".. cause I never go "make-up free" I sweep it across my cheeks..the bridge of my nose, my chin and the mid section of my forehead.. And BLEND BLEND BLEND!!  I can't stress the importance getting a really good make-up brush and blending..It's worth the investment. Sephora has some good ones that are not off the wall in price.  But neva..eva..e-v-v-a get a cheap quality one.  Not worth it.  Trust me I've already been down that road.

Check out this brush set here from Sephora is a great deal.

Sephora Starter Kit Brush Set

Okay now on to the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil.  Great alternative to lip Liner.  Not drying.. and you can gloss it up if you don't want matte lips.  I put it all over my lips.

BTW...The Super Orgasm Illuminator is very sparkly.. there are three other shades if you prefer a more subtle glow.  If you are more tan or have darker skin try Orgasm or Laguna.  If you are pale to olive in color try Copacabana..  OR buy them all and do a little mash up.  SUPER FUN!

You can buy the Illuminators online here

You can also get the Velvet Lip Pencils here

Boho Re-Opens Today!!!

Food (top to bottom): Nicoise Salad, Hummus, Tri-Tip Chile, Bianca Verde Pizza, Fresh Scottish Salmon, Chicken Biscuit

Boho (re-opens) Today!!!

The New Hollywood and Highland location for restaurateur Adolfo Suaya's Boho opens today!  I was super excited when I was invited to try out what ever I wanted on the menu pre-opening.. and that is just what I did...I generally never pass up an opportunity at good food.  So I grabbed Michelle..That's Miss Michelle Papillion of the Papillion Institute of Art and we made an afternoon of it.

I think in this case the photo's sort of speak for themselves.. we literally had to roll ourselves out of that place.. the food was so good.

So I thought I would ask Adolfo a few questions via text.. a sort of text interview if you will:

Here's what happened:

Taye: Good Morning Adolfo..(Sorry for the 7am text)  Couple questions?  Do you have a minute?
Adolfo: Of Course!
Taye: Boho opens today to the public for business?
Adolfo: Yes.  We open today.   Lunch and dinner 7 days a week.
Taye: What do you call the cuisine?
Adolfo: It's a Gastropub with, wood fire pizza's, Belgian fries, burgers, main courses and 24 Crafted beers on draft.
Taye: Did Kris Keith Design this one?
Adolfo: Yes he designed this one too.
Taye: Being that there was no dessert menu yet when I was there :( will there be desserts?
Adolfo: Yes!!!  We have amazing desserts.

SO there,  you have the plain facts.. Now let me tell you what I think...

Y-U-M-M-Y!!!!!!!  The menu is short and sweet.  In a nutshell...there is something for everyone.  The fries are just the way I like them...Crispy and the Tri Tip Chile just might be the best Chile I have ever had! Seriously!!

There is nothing over $14 bucks on the menu.. hooray for cheap and cheerful..

and know for sure that I will be back for dessert!!

Fashion Friday..I ♥ All Things Stella

FASHION FRIDAY

 Today's Look
Blazer: Stella McCartney
Dress: Stella McCartney
Shoes: Loeffler Randall, currently on sale here
Ring: Club Monaco
Nail: Nars, Versailles, Opi, Black Shatter
Earrings: Passed down from my mom.
Lips: Clarins, Rouge Jolie 711

Yup still on Crutches..But I just had to wear my Loeffler Randall Shoes :)

I have a love of all things Stella McCartney..thank goodness for sales..for without them I would not own anything Stella..at least not at this point in my life.  What I love about Stella is that her pieces are not trendy..they are timeless.

I snagged this blazer last summer..it is to date one of my favorite pieces in my closet.  Slightly reminds me of Miami circa Miami Vice..the 80's TV show with Don Johnson and Philip Micheal Thomas...my lord they were both beautiful men!!  My mom watched that show religiously.  I remember she would jump up and dance to the theme music every week.  Fun times...

This T-shirt dress I adore.. I have the version from a few years back with the Tiger..now I have the Horse.. now if I can get my hands on some of the citrus fruit she is currently doing I would just die.

THE NAILS:
My original plan was to do a tutorial blog post on them..but here (OPI Black Shatter Video Tutorial) is one on Youtube that is awesome.. I love this polish because when it starts to chip you can't tell..  Yay!

These earrings are super special..My mom used to wear them just as religiously as she danced to Miami Vice.  I had completely forgotten that I had them until the day of this shoot... so there you have it.  How could I not wear them..

and lastly..

Today is my dad's birthday.. for those who don't know he passed away when he was only 24 years old..

Today will be a day filled with nostalgia for me.  Grandma and I will have our traditional lunch at Neiman's and celebrate his birthday for him.. :)

Have a great weekend everyone..

Taye ;)
