The art of the beach cover up.. I have to say that this was not something I always mastered or even put thought into before. Like most of us.. I would throw on some shorts and a tee over my swimsuit and head out to enjoy the sun and sand. Yet in the last few years I have come to appreciate the art of actaully dressing for the beach.. A beautiful cover up can take you from the sand to the restaurant without having to change in between..
So while I though the art of the cover up would be easy.. it actually took me a while to totally get it right.
Here re my thoughts...
The thing about a coverup is that it's simply an extension of your normal style. Just like with your actual wardrobe..
1. Your cover up should represent you.. your style.. your personal style and your personality..
2. It should also work with your swimsuit.. the two are essentially a team.
Being that cover ups are often sheer in some way.. you are always going to see some part of the swimsuit underneath.. So why not make it an occasion.
So lets break down the situation here..
I went with a black and white theme. Under this cover up is a black, white and neutral bikini.. So for me a black or white cover up was essential. I went with the black because I was feeling a bit edgy that day. Paired with my fave Raybans, edgy jewelry and my hair pinned up.. the look came together. The added espadrille flat-forms and straw bag kept it just beachy enough to get away with the edginess of the rest of the look..
